i read an article saying that alocasias thrive in temps of about 77-95 or so.. is this true? has anyone had experience with keeping an alocasia under a heated mat or wrapping their pot with a “jacket” of some sort?

    My only Alocasia is from a sprouted corn that has now lost all the leaves and suffered root rot after a recent repot. In trying to get it back I did research and read someone say that heat is really important for Alocasia. Since then, I’ve put it in semi hydro, added a humidity dome and I keep it by the window during the day and on the highest shelf at night so it gets the most heat. I’m happy to say that it looks as if it’s going to sprout again. All this just to say, yes head is important although I think anywhere above 70 F is fine. Hope this helps!

    Alocasia are from several areas of the world. But most are Tropical/subtropical. Which has temps around 75-85 F all year. My alocasia are kinda spread all over the place, my ambient temp range is 55-70F in fall winter and 65-90 in spring summer. Though I can say that the ones in cabinet or the greenhouse that keep temps around 73-87 thrive much faster, and grow quicker.

    Tend to agree but I think if you’re off a bit to the left you should be ok. I like my Alocasias out around the house and not in cabinets so my house is never 77. More like 68 at night 73 during the day and all my plants seem ok with it
