I bought this Alocasia the other day and am now getting around to adding it into my app but planta doesn’t seem to be letting me out the species as the one on the tag??? The most accurate appearing option seems to be a ‘lowii’ If it’s mislabeled or someone knows how to fix this please let me know!! I’m determined to have a good Alocasia 🥲my other 2 are hanging on by a thread
I think your plant is mislabeled. A dwarf is another name for a Polly, I think I’m remembering that correctly. And the large label picture on your table looks like a Polly and not your plant.

That’s definitely an alocasia Polly, like Phil said. Yours has much crispier edges on some of the leaves but same thing as this here

Chiming in here, I’d put them near a humidifier. They love humidity
2 Me gusta Emma is right on the humidity. You can’t see it in this picture but there’s a humidifier right by my alocasia keeping it above 50% as best as possible. I use a well draining but moisture rententive mix that allows suffix airflow around the roots. I have clear pots and water it when there’s no longer humidity visible around the inside of the top half of the soil. They have been fine with being separated and repotted when it was 2 plants in 1 planter but I didn’t want them competing. Mine got all their crispy bits from the store not keeping them correctly, not like Publix cares about learning to care for alocasia the rare once a year they see one
2 Me gusta Thanks! What do you use in your soil mix? Bunnings here is the same with lots of plants, every alocasia I try to buy is usually already halfway dead when I bring it home
1 me gusta These ones are in a mix of about 60% organic potting soil, 20% perlite, and 20% pumice. My pumice is just some rainbow rock from Amazon and is just for drainage and airflow. Perlite is for moisture retention and airflow. I specifically use jungle growth organic potting mix because it’s great for root health, it has wood and other organic materials in it, and it’s pretty cheap and easy to get at Lowe’s; this soil doesn’t compact or degrade as fast as normal soil mix because of all that organic material.
