My regal shield’s soil has been drying out quickly, like every two days. I repotted her a few months ago. She is in potting soil with a bit of a chunky soil mix for extra drainage (perlite, charcoal, and orchid bark). She is a really big girl and has given me many corms that are growing quickly and are their own full plants now! Should I add more soil to cover some or all of her base? I DONT want to chop and prop her, I will do that to any of my other plants no problem, but I’m too emotionally invested in her 😅

    Hi there! It may be the soil or pot size. Older soil can lose its ability to retain moisture, and a rootbound plant can dry out quickly. I’d check the roots first; they usually tell the whole plant story😊 Also, I wouldn’t bury the base any deeper until checking what’s happening below the soil.

      Thanks for the input! She shouldn’t be root bound because she was repotted just a couple of months ago in April, but I’ll pull her out and check out her roots soon!
