I got this bambino not even 4 days ago and he is rapidly declining! This happened with another alocasia polly that I got. It’s like as soon as they enter my home they hit an immediate downward spiral. I try to hold off on immediately repotting so they have time to adjust, but maybe I should be repotting?

Alocasias are moody plants. You changed their environment, so now they must die...😂 But in seriousness, sometimes it’s an adjustment period. How much light are you providing? These need a bit more than is intuitive. They also like to be warm and preferably humid. I know it’s fighting words, but I repot 99% of my plants the minute I get them. They are already going through a transition with a new new environment, so it’s just tacking it onto that stress.

So you think yes? I should repot? I have him directly under a grow light about 8 inches away and have a humidifier by him as well

Sorry for the late response… Yes, I would. But I also grow all of my Alocasias semi hydroponics, so it’s not negotiable for me. 🤪

My favorite way to repot is to put my Alocasia in a cloche….after they get bigger I transition them out of it. They’re going from an ideal environment to our homes it’s tough. I do repot usually the day I get them as well.

He probably doesn’t like the humidifier. Any Alocasia I’ve had near mine do really bad til I move them and then let them adjust.

hmm mine (this small) are in pon while in a greenhouse at 80% so not sure you’re right here. alocasia are known for being extra thirsty compared to other easier plants.

I’m curious to hear more of your experience! All of mine are in 60 to 80% humidity, but I’m also in the desert, so they need that extra supplement.

Yes but if hers is indoor and not a greenhouse the requirements are going to differ. More humidity/water is not necessary inside in controlled air conditioning
