I got this silver dragon alocasia (I think) on sale today because it’s not doing so great. It does have one new leaf though so I have hope. Do you think re-potting, cutting off the dying leaves and some neem oil to the healthy ones could help save it or will that be too much of a shock to the plant?
So I’m not any kind of expert but I would try not to repot for awhile. I got four Alocasia from my local grocery store about a month ago and repotted the day after I bought them. Two of them died almost immediately afterwards. Apparently, Alocasia are very moody and develop transplant shock easily.
0 likes Not me reading this after I repotted it 😭 the soil was soaking wet and it was in a self watering pot which I didn’t like. I have a feeling it was too wet and that’s why it’s unhappy. I put it in the same soil I have my other Alocasia’s in so I’m hoping for the best 🙏🏻
0 likes Hey I totally don’t blame you and you were probably right. Actually, my silver dragon was one of the four that made it and I suspect they’re a little more hardy than some other Alocasia.

0 likes Actually, from what I see, your plant looks pretty good. Those light green leaves look like they are new.
1 like I found a few corms attached to the mother plant which I left alone in hopes it’ll help the growth of the overall plant

In my experience this variety is very hardy, but don’t be surprised if it goes dormant for a bit after repotting.

Alocasia respond to stress by going dormant . I have exactly the same variety that survived 18 months of no watering when I was taken ill , it's now in rude , leafy health !
