Can anyone pleeeasse tell me what I’m doing wrong with my alocasias? 🙏🏻🙏🏻 Several of them have leaves that keep turning this pinky yellow colour and dropping even though other ones next to them are fine? Some are still Giving new growth while also turning 🤷🏼‍♀️ I use a moisture meter to check when they need watering - about once a week - so I don’t think it’s over or under watering. They’re next to a north facing window with a bit of shelter so they aren’t getting full sun. Please please help!

Alocasias super difficult. They want a lot of oxygen around their roots, but they also want constant access to water. They cannot tolerate drying out, but they’re also prone to root rot. I ended up changing all of mine to pon (semi-hydro) because watering seems to always be an issue. I’ve also heard people have luck keeping them in a self-watering planter, in very chunky soil.

In summary, you’re probably not doing anything wrong; alocasias just hate life 😭

I also am using pon I don’t use the pots for it though I just plant them In a clear vessel & only put enough water at the bottom so for my bigger pots it’s usually about 1/2 inch to an inch it’s hard to say because I eyeball it . I’ve found with the clear vases I can see when the water is gone & can also see how damp the pon is before I add more water since dry pon is a different color. I did lose 1 plant trying to figure it out & some of the others lost some leaves in the transition but once they got through it they’ve been doing great. I find that my younger starter plants transitioned faster .

Are you using pons & perlite?

beginner here so take my word with a grain of salt but my alocasia was doing the same thing and i just lowered the blinds a bit so it would get less direct sun and it has not dropped a leaf since(been about a month) but i have a different type of alocasia so who knows 🤷‍♂️

Maybe try a grow light? It should help if they’re in a north facing window.
