Hello! I recently repotted my alocasia negra/plumbea. I found 3 corms and have them sitting I water to hopefully grow. I’ve noticed that they’ve all turned a dark color from the original white when I first peeled them. Is this normal? How long does it take to begin sprouting? These are about 2wks old now.
it's normal if they're still solid and have no smell. sometimes the skin oxidizes again and makes a new peel. looks like you already have a little root, shouldn't be too much longer! maybe another two weeks

As long as it's not rotting, you'll be good.

I have tried a few ways to propagate corms, and recently found a crazy easy way. I pulled 4 out from a MetalHead, and said, i wonder if i put them in a ziplock ,sandwich bag and on the window sill if they would sprout. Spray them w a little water every few days, and we are at 3 of 4 at this point having great roots coming and 2 have leafs already. Time has been about 4-5 weeks. Best advice i can give, NEVER let them dry out. Not even for an hour! Once they have secondary roots, put them in your substrate. Good luck!
좋아요 1개 I hadn’t thought of that! I actually put one in sphagnum moss to see if that does anything. I still have just 1 root coming out of the one in water.
