    I’m doing the same, and have propped mine in water. Now, what do I do? What is the best medium in which to plant my baby? The mother plant is doing great, and is planted in a tropical mix soil, although I have heard these plants can be grown in Leca or pon??? I’ve never used these mediums, and know nothing about them. So, HELP! I think it’s time for my little corm to be planted! TIA!

      I do pon for the majority of my alocasias would be easier to acclimate since it’s already in water. water to soil can be sketchy even with an easy plant and alocasia can be a bit dramatic. Only thing to remember is pon and leca don’t have nutrients so you may have to fertilize every time you top up the water. Leca queen on YouTube is great. If you put it in soil just make sure to keep it on the moist side for a little bit so it can get used to the dryer substrate. The ones I have in soil came that way and are in self watering pots. Usually I start mine in sphagnum moss and transfer to pon. I can do another comment with my water formula if you’re interested in semi hydro.

      Definitely, I’d love to hear what you have to say about your water formula, because I’m interested in trying out semi hydro with this plant. (Whatever that means! That’s how much I know about semi hydro,😕!) I’ve propped this plant since the middle of last year, so I really want to do what’s best for her. Any info would be really appreciated. TIA!

    I used a DIY pon basically what’s in the picture and add some perlite no measurement just until I feel in my heart it’s the right amount lol actual pon is crazy expensive. The water must haves are fertilizer (I use foliage pro) and water conditioner (I use API stress coat) and ph balancer (if your water is alkaline which is likely) The nice to haves are silica and super thrive. I have all of these in dropper bottles to make it easier Most tap water is alkaline and plants like it more acidic so once you find out how much ph down you need to make it around 5.5-6ph that’s what you use. it’s different for everyone depending on where you live. If your water ph is already 5.5-6 then you don’t need to do ph balancer. For a 1 liter watering can: -4 drops water conditioner -However many drops of ph down to get 5.5-6 ph -10 drops foliage pro -5 drops silica -5 drops super thrive I use this mixture every time I give them water (when planta tells me to) It probably sounds like a lot but it gets easier the more you play around with it. Hope my trial and error can benefit someone else!
