Hi everyone, I just brought this home a couple of days ago. I've just taken all that bright green moss off of the top, the soil underneath is a very spongy feeling soil. Should I repot right away or should I leave it a couple of weeks to settle into its new environment? Should I keep the moss on top? It is keeping the soil damp. And when I do repot, do I take it right down to the roots or just the root ball? Thanks for the help in advance. 😁
Hey, Alocasia’s are very picky Although as a general rule, any new plant you bring it to your home, you should let adjust to their new environment between one to 2 wks preferable 2 & away from other plants you might have to prevent any diseases or pest (gnats, etc) from contaminating the other plants. If you have a spot that is healthy for her meaning temperature and lightning, I will suggest you to put her there. For the repotting I will say to hold on to until you see is needed. [roots are coming out of the bottom of the pot, new babies are coming, or adjusting the soil with the new environment] Whenever you decided to repot the plant, be very careful. Make sure you are spreading the soil where she is currently, carefully once you spread the soil you might find some corms; these are technically how she propagates through corms. This ones you can take them apart and put them in Moss on a humid environment and they will give you more Alocasia. No have patience because they are gonna take their time, but I promise you they will come, and you will be able to repot them.
2件のいいね This was back on last September when I did my first corms repotting mind you this just only was when finally there were some sprout outs from the corms, but it took me months before I got here
