Hi everyone, just noticed this pattern on my frydek. He's an otherwise healthy plant with two new leaves coming out and he's standing up straight and perky with no visible root rot. Is this the stomata waking up thirsty or something I should be concerned about?

Definitely edema. Sometimes it’s easier to see the condition from the back of an alocasia. The plant is having a hard time releasing excess water. There are other reasons besides excess water in the soil that can cause this issue: Humidity too High - High humidity slows down the natural transpiration process where the plant releases water vapor through the pores (stomata) in the leaves. Insufficient lighting - Transpiration slows down when the photosynthesis process slows due to insufficient light. Poor air circulation - Air flow helps with transpiration. Lack of good airflow to plants can be detrimental. Good airflow helps dry the soil faster through evaporation reducing the chance of overwatering. Debris/Oils on the leaf - Dirt and oils block pores and slows transpiration. Avoid adding leaf shine oils. The oils block pores and attracts debris that also block pores.
