wrong pot size/shape? i repotted my alocasia because the roots were growing out of the drainage holes. now i think this pot is so big it’s getting overwatered, and the roots are growing out the drainage holes again. any advice?

whenever you repotted it did you go up just 1-2 inches for the new pot or was it more than that?
0 Me gustaprobably closer to 3-4in
0 Me gustaMaybe it’s too big then! I am a fairly new plant owner but I read that when it’s bigger than 1-2in it can leave too much room and cause root rot. Your plant is looking so good though so you must be doing everything else right! :)
3 Me gustaRoots coming out of the bottom is not necessarily caused by overgrown roots. It could be roots accessing the moisture under the pot. Were there more roots than soil before you repotted? If not, then, the plant did not need repotting.
0 Me gustais it bad for the plant for them to grow out of the bottom like that?
1 me gustaNo , it’s not bad for the plant when roots grow outside. The pot might sit crooked on the surface. 🤣 I have several plants in plastic pots. The plastic pots are in heavier ceramic or cement decorative pots. Moisture builds up between the two pots and attract roots. You can cut them. I just leave them alone.
