What is causing my babies to look like this 😭😭 I did use a high calcium/high magnesium fertilizer mix but havent had this issue with my adult plants. Last two pictures are babies that I recently transitioned to Leca and didn’t use fertilizer but still seeing a similar thing. These have been in a closed tub to keep humidity high I am nowI am at a loss! Any input appreciated!

0件のいいねIt could be that the discoloration isn’t showing well on camera. Alocasias are so dramatic it is hard to tell. They could be upset about the change to semi hydro, or maybe they are upset the lid was opened and the humidity dropped. It’s hard to say with them. Keep an eye on them and see if it gets worse or if they get over the repot.

Does your water reservoir contain nutrients? They need nutrients in semi-hydro because the LECA is inorganic unlike soil. I use a balanced fertiliser (you really need to use a synthetic fertiliser, not an organic one for semi hydro because organic fertilisers require the soil’s microorganisms to help deliver nutrients to the plants in a way that is bioavailable to plant roots). Not sure what part of the world you live in but I use GT Foliage Focus for my alocasias in semi-hydro according to the amount on the bottle. I would recommend doing a bit of research on suitable fertilisers for semi-grow in your region. Also just to add that many people use liquidity and superthrive “plant vitamins” but these are not balanced fertilisers and are more of an additive. For my nutrient solution, I use Silica, Foliage Focus and then add mycorrhizae. If you look up LECA addict, she goes through in detail on how to mix a nutrient solution for growing in LECA.
