I’ve been keeping plants for a while now and can’t seem to find anything on this. But my alocasia maharani produced some corms, so i planted them to wait and see new babies. Well as you can see the leaf on this is almost completely white. So some how my alocasia maharani produced an albo variegated plant. sport variegation maybe?

It could be that the mother plant was a revert.
2개 좋아요 i was thinking that but i don’t think so. I posted on reddit and someone said maybe nutrient deficiency. Corms are technically identical to the mother plant so i’m unsure of how this exsists
0개 좋아요 Its unlikely for a defeficincy to cause albo. Generally that is just seen as a vague 'varigation'. Tropical house plants are highly manipulated. And many varigation is not stable. So though an explant that's varigated was used to create props, is does not mean that the resulting plant is also varigated. It also depends on the node used, if that plant node does not have varigation the resulting plant may not be. However the genetics are still there. Just as a Variegated plant can give non-varigated corms. The reverse can be the same if the genetics are there.
