Help!! I got my baby Colocasia Black Magic about a week ago and the leaf just unfurled a few days ago. I have it in my living room near a grow light (but covered with my sheer curtain) and a humidifier. I noticed this morning that the edges starting drying and discoloring. So far I have only watered once with fertilizer. What could be causing this issue? Has anyone else had the same problem?

The leaf looked healthy when it opened based on your photos. Now, it’s dying. The original leaves/leaf already died in less than a week. Overwatering with insufficient light can damage a plant that quickly. The darker green edges look like it’s holding too much moisture. I recommend holding off watering until 2/3 of the soil dries out. Carefully remove the pot to check for root rot and soaked wet soil. Let the soil dry a couple of hours with the pot off. You may have to change out the soil to get rid of the excess moisture. Treat root rot (mushy musty roots), if any. 🍀🪴

I'll give this a shot, thank you so much! Could dryness also be a factor? I noticed that my apartment blasts heat at night when I don't have my humidifier on, and the area seems to get super dry. I also noticed that my Alocasia Polly also started getting crispy tips.

Forced air from heaters/ air conditioners can dry out plants. You can get a small humidifier for it.

I have a starter I purchased 2 wks ago. In that time one of the two leaves died and one replaced it. One looks like it’s been in a fight but was that way when I got it and still alive. I would love some help with it.
