Hi lovely plant lovers! I have this elephant ear dark star plant but I don’t know why, she keeps changing the leaves. Drops the oldest and get new one right away, but I can’t seem to make it more than 3-4 leaves at a time. I repotted 4-5 months ago but still does the same. Any idea and what can I do to make her keep the leaves?

    i have the same exact problem with my smaller indoor alocasias! i think it’s honestly an alocasia thing… mine seem to do better with more nutrients, sunlight, and humidity. i think humidity is the biggest factor for the ones that i have, although im not sure what’ll work better for larger alocasias.

      Ooh ok! I’ve seen other people or places having this exact same plant and theirs have way more leaves hahaha I think humidity could be a problem as I live in a very very dry city, and try to keep humid around them, but makes sense if they like more humidity :(

      yeah, i would give upping the humidity a shot and see if that helps! i live in a city where it’s humid as hell one day then dry as hell the next so i understand lol. maybe a little humidifier or just spraying it down a little twice a day could help!

    I have a pretty large regal shield, and if there’s one thing that plant loves is sunlight. I see you have a pretty large window… Which direction is it facing? Mine is eastern facing and at its biggest had 13 leaves… Now about 10 or 11. I make sure it’s in very chunky good draining soil, and water it pretty regularly

      And I keep my blinds drawn open 24/7.

      Thanks for replying! My window is facing west, and in summer they get like 5-6 hours of afternoon sunlight and keep the blinds wide open. They look semi closed, but their open hahaha Could be a humidity issue as we talked up, because my city is almost a desert in dryness, so I try to keep it high but is never enough :(

    Alocasias will keep more and more leaves the older they get. Young ones tend to only keep 2 or 3.
