What is your favorite growing medium for alocasias? I’m thinking I’d like to repot this one into pon — curious how you all have seen the most success with growing these beauties.

    I grow all my alocasias, colocasias and caladiums in LECA and they seem pretty happy. I use self watering pots with a wick for all and the roots grow into the reservoir pretty quickly. I don’t use the glass jar with no drainage method as I’ve found it to be really annoying for flushing and upkeep - the algae gets really annoying and with big plants, flushing is a huge pain.     I use a homemade chunky mix for aroids and haven’t killed any yet!

    I have a few recently repotted a few alocasia and anthurium in pon as I’m thinking of converting all mine over as many people I follow have had great success with alocasia etc in pon.

    All my Alocasias are in self watering pots with pon. I find them to be happier with this moisture level.

    Semi-hydro is the way for Alocasias. My Frydek is doing really well in Leca.

    Thank you all for the advice!! I ended up going with the semi-hydro method, leca and moss in my case. Fingers crossed!!!
