I am trying my first semi hydro on this alocasia and now his oldest leaf is leaning down REALLY hard. The petiole is extremely firm and he refuses to allow me to lift it back to the natural position as if it wants to be looking at the floor. The leaves are yellowing slightly but the new leaf is doing fine. The brown spots were there when I bought it at the store. Does anybody have any advice for what the deal is with this drama queen or how I can help the plant?
Alocasias do this when the light is too bright. They are trying to get away from the light. Would that be a possibility.
좋아요 1개 This could be. I did happen to place that specific leaf about 10” from (what I thought was just a meh quality) grow bulb on an ikea lamp. My black velvet turned his leaf downward when his tip was too close to the light it’s under but it didn’t yellow or move the whole petiole. This zebrina moved the total distance of almost 4 feet. I just got a second humidifier and a new light so I can spread my plants out better so maybe it will like the new spot I moved it to now. The sad leaf is currently hiding under that prince orange philo
My alocasia did that; one leaf drooped as if it was going to fall off, but decided to stay after it got watered. (It had gone a bit too long without water due to a vacation)
