Hi all. I got this alocasia melo over the weekend. Any idea why its leaves are turning limey green/yellow? Thanks!

Could be overwatered. What kind of soil is it in and how many times have you watered since you got it?

Thanks for your reply! I haven’t watered it since getting it because the soil has been pretty moist. I did mist the leaves this morning and they have since dried, but the yellowing has been happening for a couple days. I have no ides what kind of soil it’s in, it’s in whatever it came in :)

The soil seems to be pretty compact and could be holding too much water. Alocasias like a chunky soil mix (they are aroids) I’ll attach a pic of the soil I use for my Alocasias. On the other hand I don’t recommend misting, these plants don’t like wet leaves and it can actually cause them to rot or get fungal infections. So I recommend using a humidifier to raise the humidity.

Hi-I think the first pic is one of the initial older leaves, and that will happen with Alocasias. I just snip those off when I don’t want to look at them any more. The second pic, I think that may be the newest leaf that hasn’t fully hardened off yet. Can you tell if it looks like it is growing from the “inside” of the previous leaf? I wish I had an example on mine to show you - but I suspect that is what it is. I agree with all the other soil mix recommendations-I also weakly fertilize every watering.
