Hey all - I’m currently trying to plan my repotting plan. I have two different Alocasias which act like alocasias! 😬😩🤣 Online I’ve been seeing a lot of people with their Alocasias in leca. Thoughts on transferring them to this medium which I have ZERO experience with?

    I just transferred my variegated frydek to pon with no previous experience. It’s been about 2 weeks and everything is going great, it’s even putting out a new leaf.

    What kind of soil have you been using?

      It’s a chunky mix and I let them dry almost all the way because I’ve been a chronic over waterer. One has three leaves the other has two. They do typically bounce back in the spring but often give me a leaf and take a leaf

    I second using pon. Everytime I have used leca they have rotted. Not to say that it can’t be done successfully, but my plants are much happier in pon! I would remove any soil and run the roots under lukewarm water to help get some of it off. I’d recommend putting them in water for awhile. With time some of the roots with probably rot (just remove them) but new water roots will grow. Once you have a good water root system that is stable, then transfer them to pon.

    I have mine in leca. Transferred them about a month ago, so still waiting for them to fully adjust, but they seem healthy :)
