Plant Dad

Hey Plant Fam- I have a baby Amazonica Polly Aurea that I'm struggling with for a couple of months now; It is the only Alocasia that I have ever had a problem with. Anything special about the care of this particular species that I should know that's different? The temperature ranges from 65-85 degrees, has a grow light on for 12hrs a day and the humidity averages about 65%. I have a baby Dragon Scale Albo and baby Variegated Silver Dragon in the same growing conditions and they are thriving. Thoughts? Thanks in advance

Was this a TC? It may not be acclimating well. Any TC I've put in pon just dies, not sure why. So I know only pot them up in chunky mix I make. Or if they're real tiny perlite moss or perlite stratum mix.

It is a TC. Good to know about them not doing well in pon as this is my first TC. Do you think it would be ok to transfer into soil? I have removed the reservoir as someone suggested to me.

If it was me, I would. I did save 1 that I moved from pon to mix. They can be so finicky!! It's like if bubble boy went outside 😆. So I sterilize any mix I use now, and use a fungicide, to make sure they're as close to sterile as they're used to. Then I put them in my prop box to start out (basic lidded, just for humidity). Then after a week or so I pull them out and light mist daily, then slowly pull back on that until they acclimate to "normal" apartment conditions. Plants In Jars on YouTube has some really good acclimating vids. I follow her stratum/perlite mix for any tiny TC's

So I was watching a channel on Tissue culture, specifically about different plant growth hormones and what they do, when to use them. Whats ideal for what type of plant. And he was talking about leaf growth, and rooting hormones before separation. And he he goes Alocasia.... just....., their leaves fall off, EXPECT them to fall off. They just fall off. In the most distraught voice. All I could do was chuckle and sadly think same bro, same 😢
