Soo I was switching out my soil for a lot of my plants to a more chucky mixture and I found some sliver dragon corms and I’m so happy my first Alocasia babiess two of them already have good roots as well

I’ve been seeing lots of people grow corms sideways… I always push mine down in the substrate with the tip sticking out. Is there a reason that maybe sideways is better?

I have no clue tbh this is my first time two have roots already and so getting them in the perlite was kinda hard but I’m not sure I see a lot of people just throw them in containers with a little water and they seem to grow just fine if this doesn’t work atleast ik I have 3 more Alocasia plants so I have plenty more times to try again with it all trial and error :)

I’ve been growing mine in perlite, fluval stratum, & pon… many have sprouted already and have leaves that are 2-3 inches. But I’ve always buried mine so that’s why I was curious if there was a reason some do them sideways. I did have a few that had rotten spots so I did those sideways and they still sprouted, but now I’m curious if I can bury them or not

I’ve never seen anyone completely bury them but like only stick the ends of the corm in the substrate. But YouTube and TikTok are my best friends to new things so definitely check some videos out there

I’ve been growing corms awhile now… so YouTube was definitely where I learned what to do, on top of Facebook groups & chats… but it seemed no one ever showed exactly how they placed their corms. They would just say leave the tip it grows from out… so that’s what I did. Then when I had a few that had rotted spots I was told to grow them sideways and it worked! So I’m thinking that must be why some grow them this way, to protect against any kind of rot
