   Alocasias like relatively frequent watering. Be consistent with your water schedule. It's common for them to shock when moved, so it's no big deal if it gets dramatic at first. Because they get watered often, take precautions against root rot, like adding a higher drainage mix at the very bottom of thier pot and using a slightly tighter fit when repotting.

   For my Alocasia that’s in potting mix, I water mine as soon as the top layer of soil dries out. I try to never let it dry out more than 25%. It’s also in a super well draining potting mix, so that helps prevent root rot. If you’re not using a really chunky well draining soil, you’ll may want to wait until it’s 25% dry to water again. I also give it a humidifier and plenty of bright indirect light. Right by an unobstructed east facing window is ideal, but I don’t have one of those 🥲 A south or west facing window can work if you keep the plant a few feet back from the windows or add a sheer curtain. A north facing window would probably require a grow light to supplement it. Or you can just get a grow light for 12-14 hours/day, but I recommend using a free light meter app on your phone to check that your plant is getting enough light on its leaves. I have also heard recently that it can be beneficial for Alocasias if you water it with 1/2 or 1/4 strength diluted fertilizer with every watering. I’m going to start doing that with mine but I haven’t done it yet so Id say do your own research first to see if that makes sense to you. If you fertilize that way, you’ll want to make sure to fully flush the soil out with plain water every so often.
