Hi guys. I bought this plant from Trader Joe’s a few weeks ago and the soil it was in was god awful so I repotted it and is has slowly lost all of its leaves and I thought maybe it was going to lose just the smaller ones but now it’s losing a bigger one. Any tips? Is the whole plant going to die? Will it come back? Thanks!
Maybe it was underwater at Trader Joe’s and it’s catching up because you gave it fresh soil?

This looks like an Alocasia. If that is true they like chunky soil. My zebrina and silver dragon are in equal parts of indoor potting mix and orchid bark. I water them when their soil feels like damp hair. I’ve learned Alocasia’s like the soil moist but not soaked. If the top is visibly dry I water till it comes out the bottom.

좋아요 1개 Yes. I have a Zebrina. She does not like her soil dry. I didn’t water them for 3 weeks I wanna say. She dropped all her leaves except 2. My silver dragon I honestly don’t know how it stays alive. I give it a full watering. Then it gets like the left over parts in our water bottles the rest of the time.
0개 좋아요 I also don’t water with tap. I use filtered water like from the fridge or water bottles like arrowhead or Kirkland.

You *probably* need to be watering it more based off of your other comments/info. Alocasias definitely like damp conditions AND they are heavy feeds. I fertilize with every watering (not a ton of fert) to make sure they never go hungry.

2개 좋아요I grow my allocasias in pon. It is so much easier to grow them in pon. Allos freak out so easily. They need 60% humidity or close to it where the plant gets 60% throughout week to grow. Plant also has to adjust to this low humidity level because they really like hot 70 to 80 degree temps and high humidity. Optimal is more like 70% humidity 80 oF.
