my elephant ear alocasia is starting to get some brown and yellow spots on its leaves, one is worse than the rest and its stem isn’t as firm as the others. i think it might be due to the fact it needs a repot, some of the roots are sticking out the bottom of the pot and i can see some on the top of the soil. I water it once a week so i don’t think im under watering it and it’s placed in perfect sun. I just want to hear some opinions on how i can help it

Watering Once a week might too much, alocasias like to dry out between waterings. What kind of soil is it in? Is it getting direct sunlight? Are you misting it?

i haven’t repotted it, it’s in the soil i got it from the nursery in. it gets maybe 2-3 hours of direct sunlight max and a good 9 hours of indirect. i do not mist it, i don’t mist any of my plants anymore since i heard misting can cause fungus infections

Direct sunlight burns the leaves causing the crispy brown spots and it might be overwatered. Let it dry out before watering instead of watering on a strict schedule. I’d check the roots for root rot and repot into a chunky soil mix.

Maybe a repot in better soil would help.
