bought this “jumbo” alocasia from TJ’s yesterday — i doubt that’s the real name lol. it’s in its original (8” diameter) plastic pot. i’ve heard mixed things about the soil / medium that plants are kept in in-store, like this. should i repot right away? should i leave it be? p.s. i think it might be an alocasia macrorrhizos ‘stingray’ ? but lmk if anyone knows for sure
Does not look like fresh soil given the moss? I'm not an expert TBH but I tend to want to examine to the root situation sooner than later but since it's a big pot and established plant why not let it dry out and or then give it a watering just to monitor the soil behavior and get info. It's not dying for repot this second? But then again when I purchase A plant from the store I tend to feel like I won't know until I actually dig it up and look at the roots so I don't usually follow the rules and wait long enough haha
