Does anyone have their Alocasias in leca? HELP 😊. I transferred her about 2 1/2 months ago. She was doing GREAT! Even put out a new leaf. Last time I went to check the water level I noticed the yellow and brown, with “mushy” tips and thought I mixed my nutrient solution to strong. So I adjusted it and topped off the cache pot (filling about 1/3). The leaf with the significant “yuck”, has developed since that. Thoughts? Do you let the cache pot be DRY before you add more nutrient solution?

What nutrient solution are you using? Are you using tap water? I don’t have any of my alocasias in leca, but all are in pon and they love it. I use a wick system setup instead of a cache pot with reservoir, because they don’t like to be TOO wet, but they like to be consistently moist and not to dry out very much (in my experience). I also use distilled water for mine instead of tap water.

I’m using GT Foliage Focus and distilled water. When I had it in water, I also included GT Root Zone, but once the roots were good, I transferred to the leca. Recently, I put a brand new baby Jacklyn (third one I’ve tried) into pon with a wick set up so I’m glad to hear your Alocasias like that set up

If the Jacklyn does well maybe consider the same setup for this guy. Sounds like you’re doing everything right, maybe it it just doesn’t like leca haha? Sorry I can’t be of any better help, not tried alocasias in leca myself.
