These are photos of my Alocasia odora x Alocasia ‘Amazonica’ (Mayan Mask). She is in the 4 inch nursery pot that she came to me in. As she dries out, she’s quite top heavy and if touched would fall over. I’ve showed you the root system. The bottom half of soil is tightly packed, even when dry. Is it time to repot to a 6 inch pot? She has 4 leaves. One is droopy since her last new leaf🤷♀️
You can repot. The largest root is wrapping around the bottom. The root ball is small for such a big plant. So, the soil will dry out quickly requiring more frequent watering. A 6” pot is a good size for the repot. Use alocasia soil similar to the airy well drain soil it’s in now.

좋아요 1개 They have premixed alocasia potting mix under several brands. It’s cost efficient when you have only one plant to buy the premixed type. You can mix your own when you have more plants that like the same soil mix.

all my alocasias are happy in molly’s airoid mix (available on amazon but pricey). you can make a chunky mix by adding leca, orchid bark, and perlite to potting soil.
