Hey babes, so I got this alocasia from the grocer and it was dying so I felt bad, I got it to grow a new leaf and so I cut the old one off now the new one is dying, so idk what I’m doing, it was growing strong and now it’s not.. is it normal for it to do this in the winter? Will it grow back if the leaf dies? I need all the types please😊
Humidity is too low.

Did you just get it? If so, it's in 'Alocasia Tantrum' time. If it loses all leaves, it will often grow back. You just have to be patient, and make sure you don't over water, because you can rot the corm. They can also go dormant in winter, so it's possible to not see much till spring

0개 좋아요 Copy. I would clip the leaf. It's just draining the corm at this point. And then hopefully you'll get some nice healthy growth. I'd say check it fir rot, but you said you repotted

So obviously I cannot be sure as I can’t see the plant in person but this looks like spider mites. Which will kill the leaves and is extremely common on Alocasias especially Pollys. Water mixed with unscented Castile soap spray every few days for a couple weeks will get rid of them. Now that isn’t to say that there aren’t other problems, your soil does look like it might not be chunky enough, alocasias like nice chunky airy soil, and that pot size might be too big for the plant. It shouldn’t be more than 1-2 inches bigger than the root ball. If you care for the corm properly it will recover though. If you report it there’s also a chance you’ll find more corms to prop in order to grow new plants from it. Also this leaf isn’t worth saving but the spider kite treatment knowledge will help you out in the long run. They can get in the soil but it’s not usually all that common. They mostly stay on leaves
It’s been repotted into a smaller pot, and I looked at the leaves where you pointed out and in person there wasn’t any white on it, so I’m not sure what to do.

I have a question regarding the corms... The corms are like part of the plants roots, or it's just like "eggs"... babies for future? ?

2개 좋아요 They’re kind of like flower bulbs in a way but they grow from the main plants roots and you pluck them off once and propagate them into plants .
