Hi! I just purchased my first Alocasia - it’s a baby Alocasia Jacklyn. Almost my entire plant collection is made up of Hoya so needless to say I’m nervous. Any advice or tips to keep this plant happy and healthy would be so appreciated!!!! Thank you :)
I’m still a beginner with alocasias so hopefully someone else replies as well lol but I’ve found with mine they do not like to dry out and love fertiliser. They can also be prone to spider mites so I clean the leaves every couple of days just in case. Good luck!!!
좋아요 1개Keep the soil moist, do not wait for the top layer to dry before watering. Self watering pots can really help you out; makes sure that they can drink as much as they need Alocasias drop their oldest leaf when they start growing a new one, so don’t worry if a leaf starts turning brown as long as it is growing another it’s healthy They love humidity, so it’s not required, but spraying them or keeping them in a greenhouse would make them happy Don’t let them get too cold! They’re from south east Asia, where the coldest it gets is like 55°F (like 10°C?) Good luck!

Mine are thriving in lecca, and it’s easy to keep on top of watering. All of my alocasias (probs about 20) are in lecca. The only two I lost I left in a chunky soil mix and they ended up rotting from not getting enough airflow.
