My Polly has been in Fluval stratum in a non draining vessel for almost a month now, hasn’t dropped any leaves since the transfer from soil… and now she is giving me a new leaf!!! Without dropping any of her current ones!!!! I think I’m in love with Fluval stratum… let’s hope it’s a leaf and not a flower…. This is the first new growth only have had her since Christmas.

So my first and only mistake, was going to petco or petsmart to get it… by me it’s 38$ for a 8lb bag…. I went with my friend to a small aquarium shop for some coral, and they had a 8lb bag for 26$… check your local aquarium shops first.. its used for aquatic plants so most will have it

Is the fluval going to be long term? Do you have to clean it ever?

So I trying it out as long term, the guy at the aquarium shop said that the stratum is good for about a year before needing to be rinsed and used again. But if it gets thick algae build up he did recommend just switching it out

Also a girl at petsmart said she uses the Fluval stratum for her monstera and a couple other plants and they love it. Honestly in my opinion if it can be propagated in Fluval it should be able to thrive in Fluval
