I have two black velvets that are the same size and I got at the exact same time. Both are still in the nursery pots they came in with a mix that looks coco-coir heavy to me. Despite that, they’re doing well. Both of them sit in ceramic pots (so around the nursery pots). One pot is white, the other is dark green. They’re next to each other with the same light, humidity, temperature, and airflow. So what I can’t for the life of me figure out is why the soil in the white pot dries out twice as fast as the soil in the dark green one. Does anyone have any insights? Thanks ahead of time!

Honestly, don’t really know but I’m taking a while guess here two reasons possibly one because the white one may just have a slightly bigger root ball and two maybe the white pot is just reflecting more sun, so it dries out the soul a little faster, but to be honest, I don’t really know those are just kind of maybes🤷🏻‍♀️

Thanks! I was thinking that white reflects light so it should insulate better, which would protect it from evaporation more than the dark green pots. But I honestly have no clue and physics was absolutely my worst subject in high school. I’m going to see if Bard has some answers… Stay tuned.
