Welcome! That’s a beautiful plant. Start by inspecting it for bugs. Check behind the leaves and under the pot. Wipe off the hard water stains and salt deposits with diluted vinegar. Then, spray or wipe the entire plant with soapy dishwater. This will clean and treat any hard to see insects. This plant likes higher humidity, bright indirect light and warm temperatures. Use a grow light if needed. Keep away from drafts in the colder months. Use a humidifier or pebble tray of water. Fertilize during the warmer months. 🪴

Beautiful! I just started growing Alocasias and once you get the hang of it they are very easy and rewarding. I put mine in an IKEA greenhouse (you dont have too) Maintain humidity around 60 as consistently as you can and I definitely recommend grow lights on a timer. I know that’s a lot of effort to set up but your plant will THRIVE. My Alocasia black velvet started flowering and my pink princess is growing like crazy! I do have a purple sword that sits on my island with none of the fancy conditions and she’s very happy too

Gorgeous plant! I find that these beauties don’t have to be quite as complicated as their reputation. I have at least 5 different Alocasia, and all are thriving with very little effort. I’ve had the best luck so far with transferring them from soil to LECA, and I don’t use a humidifier, cabinet, or anything else special for humidity. They are EXTREMELY prone to spider mites, however. I’ve found that weekly misting with a spray bottle and a diluted mix of peppermint Castile soap and water keeps them pest free.
