I posted my sad alocasia zebrina yesterday. I have been doing some research and think I’m going to try her hydroponic bc I’ve always had luck with that, but SCARED at the same time. Any tips would be appreciated as this is my first alocasia and we are not off to a good start. Wish us luck✨🤟🏻 (Reference pic of her current sad state)

It kind of looks like it was wants water. How much light is it getting and how dry are you letting the soil get?

It gets bright indirect light for most of the day! I WAS chronically underwatering it because I didn’t know it liked to be kept damp, now I feel like it’s too late😩

Some of the leaves look save able!! Give her a drink once the top inch or two is dry, they don’t like to completely dry out. Also could help to increase humidity. When I was having problems w mine I started misting it 2-3 times a day and that helped

How about trying a water sensor? See the Suss Tee water sensor in my zebrina’s pot. I missed one day of water and it started to yellow and keel over. I added the sensor on watering day. Then, I watered the plant as usual. The sensor slowly turns blue. I water again when the sensor turns a very very pale blue. Light blue means the plant has not completely dried out. It’s not exact science. But, it reminds me to water before it’s too late. Downside is the price. This is the small, about $22 for 5 on Amazon. The inner core needs replacing about 6 to 9 months. Btw, I’ve never repotted my zebrina. It is happy in the coco coir soil mix in a 6 inch pot.

Ah thank you so much for the suggestion!!! The visual cue may be suuuper helpful for me to remember to water or I’ll forget for days. Used to very low maintenance plants!🫶🏻

Are the watering reminders here on the app too infrequent?

She gets full day indirect bright light here :) I am pretty sure it’s my crappy watering that caused her downfall lol

I mixed orchid bark pertile and indoor potting mix. Bright light all day. It just had that baby leaf. One on the way.

I moved my Colocasia to LECA and it was a brilliant decision on my part. 😂 That heifer was thirsty all the damn time. I got a baby Alocasia Zebrina a few months ago and immediately put her in LECA as well, and she’s doing great as well. Only tip I have is to don’t overthink it- I overwhelmed myself with info/research and had to just pull the trigger, so to speak. Good luck! 🤞
