Hi everyone, over the past year I’ve started getting into Alocasias and yesterday finally found the pink dragon and couldn’t resist, it will be repotted soon and will give it a clean but can anyone help with the holes in the one leaf, it is only on the newest one, they seem to seeping a red liquid and won’t dry up, any ideas on what i can do?

0개 좋아요 It looks like damage, not uncommon from shipping. . But could be going into a fungal infection. Personally I would nip of the tip area where it is (sanitize the cutters before and after). And treat the whole plant with a fungicide

0개 좋아요 Yes, most fungicide are pretty benign ive personally never seen them cause burning or anything and I use them on Tissue culture plants that have no coatings for protection. This is the one I use, especially on baby plantlets. I also use a Sulphur based on my carnivorous, or on tropicals Sierra Natural Science 244 (244C is Concentrate). The Growsafe covers both pests and fungicide mold and i feel like it may be more effective. So i generally use it more often, especially if the situation is shady 😆 🤣 like could be mold, would be fungis, could be pests.
The darker parts under the leaf mean it was over watered and it is gutating. I’m guessing the hole is where the leaf got mushy from the excess water and therefore was easily damaged.

0개 좋아요 Nothing you can do for this leaf that has damage. Just be sure the potting mix is chunky, light and fast draining and that the potting mix isn’t too big so it can drain and dry out faster going forward.
