I need some advice. My cuprea has doing great, but is currently growing 2 flowers and what looks like a new leaf. I'm getting mixed messages on Google and I'm not sure if I should cut it off or let it flower. This my first one and I don't want to loose her. TIA
Do you plan to pollinate it?(ideally if they don't open consecutively) Or collect its pollen to freeze? If not, I'd just cut it

1 me gusta I haven't thought about pollinating, but now that you mention it, I might give it a try. Do you have any tips , I've never done that, but I'm always up to trying new things. Thank you 😊
1 me gusta I'd recommend searching youtubes, simply cuz I'm visual. But inflorescence are both male and female. So if you get two that can be ideal. Once one starts to give pollen at the mid spadex, you can collect it onto foil(which you can label and fold up and freeze up to a year). Then youd need to cut a small window out of the female portion of the spadex. And then brush on the collected pollen. Philodendron are a bit easier cuz they kind of change from male to sticky female, and its all out in the open.
1 me gusta Looking at the size I think you'll get one sooner, so itd have good timing. As the female portion is fertile first, then it opens and the pollen forms. It's a small portion of time the female is fertile. Which is why you need 1 to open first, to collect pollen. Then use it on the 2nd one just after opening/female becoming fertile. .... if that makes sense
