Hi everyone! I just bought a pink princess philodendron and it has some pink on it’s leaves but I was wondering if there is a way to encourage more pink. Also any tips on how to care for it are appreciated!!

There’s no guaranteed way to get more pink. But if the plant is in low light, it’s more likely to revert back to green, so keeping it in bright indirect light can help. Some people also have success propagating variegated stems to encourage more variegated leaves. Care tips: • Chunky aroid mix • Let it dry out between waterings • They’re climbers so give it support. I have mine on a sphagnum moss pole and the aerial roots are growing into it • High humidity. Otherwise, new leaves will get stuck

Perfect thank you!! For humidity, would misting it work? If so, how often?

I would skip misting, I agree with eatyacarbs. I have mine in a “greenhouse” cabinet but humidity domes or small terrariums are also good options

Too much light can make these revert back to green as well, so I wouldn’t drop it in a south facing window. Lots of bright indirect light will encourage more pink. I don’t mist — it can lead to other issues like rot and fungal stuff (and it’s tedious lol!) A tray of pebbles and water nearby can help, and I like to use a handheld steamer weekly for my humidity lovers rather than keep a humidifier full and running, but that’s an option too!

LIGHT!!! Lots and lots of light! They seem to revert back if they don’t have enough. And fertilize on a schedule seems to help! My most recent leaf coming out is really pink because I added a grow light for extra light!

yes a grow light is a great option for a plant like this since it will never be as harsh as direct sunlight but provides ample light anyway!

Are there any grow lights you recommend?

I don’t get the best sunlight in my house so I absolutely have to have a few here and there! It’s helped so much, definitely has kept the variegation alive!

Mine are just off Amazon because the ones I like that are more pricy, are more permeate fixtures and we’re renting. I just make sure they are full spectrum!
