I picked up a new philodendron today! I needed to reward myself for finishing my finals đ Sometimes I wonder why I went back to school again lol. Anyways, this little guy caught my eye. The label just said ânew hybrid.â It looks a tad even more red in person. And it looks like the leaves donât green down as much as prince of orange and mccolley's finale. I wonder what its a hybrid of. Really excited to watch it grow âșïž
That is an interesting one! I love philodendrons and havenât seen this one before. I could never go back to school. Lol. Good for you!
1 j'aime I know right? Itâs been a while since Iâve seen a new-to-me philodendron đ Haha thanks! Yeah itâs way different when you also have adult things to worry about. Some weeks thereâs like no time for classes/homework đŹ

I snooped your profile and see you have some caladiums. How do you like them? Do they need high humidity?
1 j'aime I like them a lot. I donât think humidity is super important with them, but they like consistent watering without drying out. I grow mine outdoors and let them go dormant when the weather gets cold. Storing the bulbs can be hit or miss, but I have way too many plants to grow all my outdoor ones inside for half the year đ
1 j'aime Good to know, thanks! I just recently saw some in a book that had me in awe and am now of course wanting one.
1 j'aimeI wonder if itâs a Red Sun that just hasnât gotten enough light in the store? The leaf shape is right. I just saw some in-store for the first time today
3 J'aime Oh maybe! Thatâs a new one to me. Thanks!

Here is a sun red for comparison. The newer red leaves turn copper before they turn green. It doesnât show well in the photos but all the bottom leaves are not fully green yet. I think you may have another hybrid though.
Here is a transition leaf next to a brand new leaf for reference
