This Florida Ghost is my first philodendron, I don’t really know anything about them except some care. I got it Sunday and it’s been very happy here. My question for you guys is, do these things produce an inflorescence like anthuriums do? I see the thang protruding from a cataphyll but it doesn’t look like just a leaf.
Yes they do but that looks too be a leaf IMO 🥰 and they are so forgiving and easy to love.
좋아요 1개 That lower one definitely looks like a leaf to me but this main one here is all bumpy and rigid, not smooth and very soft

they definitely do flower, but that's a leaf. philodendrons are notorious for their leaves struggling to get out of the sheaths. based on the other comment describing the texture i'm guessing this leaf has just struggled the foliage out of the sheath before the petiole. the bumps are from the fenestrations. an inflorescence on a philodendron is very obvious, the flowers are hermaphroditic and there is a hard bulbous base containing the ovary and a softer, long spathe at the top that covers the stamen. similar to an alocasia inflorescence. a flower would be noticeably wider than a leaf, which this is not
