What is going on with the leaves?? I’ve been keeping an eye on the whole plant and there doesn’t appear to be anything else out of the ordinary. New leaves come in and they have no spots. But eventually spots develop. I use fish tank water or filtered well water. I use a hygrometer so it’s never over watered. It’s in a mix of potting mix, coir, perlite, orchid bark, and a little pumice. In a west facing window. I’ve researched it and have found the majority of people saying 3 things lol so now I’m coming here.

    I would thoroughly inspect for pests. Seems like it could be pest damage or possibly sun spots to me but I feel like that’s too many spots for it to be sun spots.

    I read once that it’s from when direct sun hits droplets on the leaves. If it was my plant I would repot it. Is it in a very dry environment?

    I live in Alaska sssooo not much sunlight yet. If it was in a south window then I’d think maybe sun was the culprit on a nice day but we definitely just haven’t had hardly any sun yet. I have grow lights at each spot where I have plants lol I’ve dealt with fungus gnats, spider mites, and mealy bugs so I know what to look for there. I brought the plant to the table and with a high powered flashlight, watched the soil and stem of plant for 5 min. Not a thing moved. Inspected front and back of leaves and found a clear sticky substance on the back of 4 of the spots! So I’m thinking these spots are that nectaries thing?? Also saw that a root was coming out the bottom and another barely out the top of soil. Good call on needing to repot Chrissy! So I slowly watered till water came out the bottom a little in preparation for repotting tomorrow night. Then I’ll be able to see what the roots are looking like. Oh yeah, yes it’s very dry here lol average humidity in the house is 30 but I read a cool thing to do of using soaked sphagum moss around the base of my tropical plants and the humidity right there raises to 50%!

    Looks like nectaries! Totally normal and nothing to stress about. It’s just part of philodendrons, and some species are a lot more prone and visible than others. In my personal experience the climbers and velvet leaves tend to do it less but they all can.
