Hello! I just got a pink princess from Lowe’s. Right now she’s grouped with an Alocasia and I wanted to see if this was an okay set up. The green house is in the corner of a west facing and north facing window. Any other tips for keeping them alive would be appreciated!

I think the lil greenhouse is very cute. The PPP doesn’t require it necessarily but will still appreciate the extra humidity. Light-wise, you really want them in front of the window rather than off to the side if at all possible. Back when I got my light meter I took measurements of light levels at different distances and angles from different windows. For a west-facing window, I found that having the plant within a foot of the window but against the wall and to the side actually only gave about 5% as much light as having it more in front of the window within a few feet. I generally found that having a plant off to the side but 1-2’ from the window was equivalent in lighting to having the plant more in front of the window but 12+ feet back. Numbers-wise, my plants that were about a foot from a west-facing window but off to the side like this were only getting ~30-70 fc for 8-9 hours, even in summer. As a guideline, the philodendron will need 150-200 fc just to survive and 300+ to see consistent growth. They can handle upwards of 2000 fc. The alocasia will generally want at least 250 fc for longer-term survival and 400+ for consistent growth.

Thank you so much! I have a ledge in a west facing window I can move them to.
