Hey! So I’ve had this philodendron (ring of fire?) for a short time after trying to save it. I’m hoping to eventually put it in my gecko enclosure if I can figure out how to save the poor thing. Any advice would be appreciated! Thanks! It’s currently in quarantine (which started like 3 days ago) so I can keep an eye on it for any pests before putting it in my gecko’s enclosure. So it’s staying nice and moist in the bin I currently have it in.
Have you checked the roots for signs of rot? Those droopy leaves could be a sign of overwatering - I’d trim those off, check the roots, and repot into chunky soil.

0 Likes Is there a certain place I should trim the leaves off? I just recently got into plants so I’m not very familiar with trimming.
1 LikeAlways sterilize your trimmers (wipe them with hydrogen peroxide or any strong alcohol.) For this one, just cut close to the base. Any leftover petiole will dry up and may eventually fall off on its own. For other plants you'll want to learn what "nodes" are and where to place cuts near them

1 Like Alright. I just checked the roots and they did have root rot. I got rid of the bad roots and a good amount of healthy roots were still left. I repotted the plant after rinsing, so hopefully it’ll recover! Thanks for all the help!
1 Like For future watering, use a wooden chopstick to check the moisture level. If the top 2” are still wet, hold off on watering for a couple more days. You’ve got this 🪴😃
