Just picked up my first ever philodendron today and I’m getting mixed signals from different sources on the humidity they need. I’ve currently got it on a shelf in my living room, would I be better off moving it somewhere more humid?

Tracy LeeSome philodendrons are more sensitive to humidity than others but most are very forgiving too. They are generally more happy with higher humidity. You can keep an eye on her where she’s at and if she starts to show signs of low humidity like brown and dry leaf tips then you can deal with getting her into higher humidity. What type is it?

You shouldn’t need to be too concerned about humidity then. The philodendrons with thicker leaves tend to be a bit more robust. I think you’ll be fine but just keep an eye on her. Godspeed! 💚💚

Freya EvergreenWhat about a splindid philodendron? I just got mine and I burned it with neem oil and water is trapped in her leafs and I fear I killed it before I could enjoy her. I am so sad!

Splendid doors not like to be overwatered. I have found mine to want to be almost dry before I water her. It looks like you just need to let her dry out a bit more before watering. She will grow like a weed once you get that right. She’s not picky about humidity. 💚💚

Depends on the type of philo. If I don’t mist my pink princess at least twice a week its new leaves get stuck in the sheaths, which is usually a good indicator to me it’s not getting enough moisture. I live in a very dry climate though.
