Hey yall! My momma gave me this beautiful heart leaf philodendron mixed in with a rubber plant last year just before it got cold. I was afraid to do any sort of pruning or rebuild a new lattice since it was cold. Now that spring is almost here and the days are warmer, I’d like to get Stretch Armstrong to a good place. I have a few questions… 1. Can I trim off the brown ‘leg-like’ pieces that appear to serve no purpose? 2. There is several very long beautiful prolific ‘arms’, what do others do to support those? 3. For the base lattice replacement, is there any specific lattice type I should use or a particular preference other people use that is recommended? 4. Any other tips for managing this beautiful monster are welcome 🤗

This looks like monstera deliciosa and not a heartleaf philodendron. You can cut the aerial roots if you don’t like them. I’d recommend a big stake, wood plank, or trellis to support. I suggest looking up YouTube videos about caring for monstera. There are several! I especially like the channel Killthisplant

Give it bright indirect light, few hours of direct and it will get big, very big. If burning occurs on leaves, make the transition from low to bright light slow.

I don’t have anywhere in my house for bright direct light but I was wondering if it would be ok to move it outside for a few hours when it’s above 70 degrees

Yeah as long as it doesn’t get below 55°f
