I received this plant recently and all I was told is that it was a philodendron. Does anyone know what type it?

That might be in. I was confused by the sturdy stem that was growing straight up. Is that possible with philodendron micas?

It’s not a micans. The leaves are too big and stem too thick to be a philodendron micans. The fuzzy petiole is more likely the type.

I was going to say gigas but I think the leaf shape is wrong 🤔 There’s a number of philos that look pretty similar until they have something to climb on and get mature leaves

I have what I thought was the start of a gigas that looks like this. It is velvety like micans but it’s a much larger stem/vine and leaf! This is more solid green and my micans have a deep red undertone

Maybe a melanochrysum? Idk these velvety philodendrons confuse me 😂 I thought gigas was more oval shape than heart shape, but I haven’t owned one to be fair
