I’m just a plant noob. Got my first plant in July 2025. I’m now at 32 plants lol. Anywho. Why is my billietae leaking. And what is it leaking. Thank you.

    It could be an older leaf about to die off or the plant putting out sap to attract ants. The ants will protect the plant from insects destructive to the plant in a symbiotic relationship. 🪴🍀

    They are called EFNs (extrafloral nectaries) -- glands that secrete a sap that I believe is meant to attract beneficial bugs to keep pests away. Totally normal and very common on philodendrons. Some species have them on the leaves -- philos like ring of fire, golden crocodile, the royal crew (white princess, white knight, pink princess, etc). and some species have them more on the petioles instead -- philos like florida green/ghost, burle marx, billies, etc.
