Hello, so i have 2 Philodens, both seem to slowly be declining, my lemon lime seems to be doing the worst. Her roots are drying out, her leaves are becoming yellow and dropping daily, and im not sure how to help her, anyone know what's going on? :(
Maybe you could give it a bit more light and a soil change, then give it a week and see how that does.

That pot is WAY too big. They like being slightly bound. Definitely do a repot/soil change. Check the roots for rot. Better light… yes and no… they do ok in low light. But definitely need a more appropriate sized pot

0 likes Yeaa, I have a feeling it isn't getting enough water, we've been battling gnats so damp soil is kinda spooking me right now 🥲
0 likes That's fair. The microbiolift pond drops work really well. I use a few drops in every gallon of water. Has eradicated 97% of gnat issues after a few weeks. Im a few months into using it now and unless I bring something new in, been gnat free
1 like Should I be watering it every day for a few days to try and kill any gnats that may be in it? (A few of my other plants are currently battling those little demons)
0 likes No, I just use them when I water. And water on the plants schedule. My philos get watered every 6-14 days depending on species

Has the soil been staying damp? I’ve been reviving a heart philodendron from my in laws and the leaves started to yellow and drop. The soil was still damp in between watering schedule so I put it in a brighter window and it seems to be doing better now.

I agree with all the above comments about pot size, watering and light. I would repot it in a smaller pot in order to check for root rot and to make it a more appropriate pot size for the current root ball size that contains healthy roots. I wanted to add that if none of that helps, then you may need to just trim it all down to props and start over. I just had to prop my lemon lime down and start over after it had root rot and didn’t recover once I treated the roots.

1 likeUr soil looks like crap. That pot is WAAAYY too big too. Repot into smaller pot (needs to only have about an inch between the roots & inside of pot before dirts added). Make sure u have an aroid mix. Google if ur not sure what that is. Keep in the same spot. Water when 3/4 dry

While that is true, gnats will find a way even if you keep the upper portion dry, they just go to the bottom holes or wait for you to water. So bottom watering isnt a fix, nor is keeping a plant that prefers damp, dehydrated. The bits and dunks are the same thing, there is not an indoor vs outdoor, its based on water depth, one just releases faster (bits) but if you use warm/hot water on the dunks and let it cool, it releases faster. Its the other ingredients that cause the contamination and can grow mold or fungus, the Microbiolift eliminates that. And its way easier to administer, no need to wait for it to soak, etc.
