Hi I am new here and new at being a plant mom! This plant was given to my daughter as the mere stick at the bottom in March. We have managed to look after it and it has grown all of these leaves on it. I recently repotted and attached it to a ladder. Is this how it supposed to look? Is there anyway to make it out a bit or does it just grow tall like this? Thanks!

Monsteras do better on poles made of sphagnum moss, coco coir (coconut husks), coiled jute rope or even a board. The aerial roots grow onto the pole as it climbs. Use florist tape to tie the vine to the pole. Stiff plastic or wire ties will cut into and damage the vine. I recommend cutting the vine and propagating the pieces in water. Then, place those cuttings into a pot wide enough to hold the moss pole, 2 cuttings and the original base plant. You can stick the long aerial roots back into the pot. Give it bright indirect sunlight at least 8 hours a day or under a grow light for 12 hours. 🍀🪴

Thanks for this! I always thought it was a philodendron? Not monstera?? 😬🫣😱

It’s a monstera variety from the split leaves. Whatever it is it will still benefit from a pole!😆
