I’ve heard about philodendron birkin reverting to philodendron red Congo but I think mine is starting to do it. I got this plant about 3 months ago off Etsy and it has adjusted great and has grown about 5 new leaves. It is in a 8 inch pot and is a pretty big philodendron birkin. I researched it a little and apparently the two main causes are lack of light and age. It has a spot next to a window so it’s getting a good ambit of light although now that it is getting colder there is a little less light but still a good amount. It also might be age becuase it seems to be pretty old but I’m not exactly sure how old. I don’t really mind that it is reverting, it is kind of cool I just want to know why it is happening and if anyone else has been though this with their birkin.

    I have my birkin sitting right next to my red congo and now I am wondering if I need to separate them so it doesn’t get any funny ideas 😂

    The Birkin I have has both Birkin and red Congo in the same pot. You named the reasons why plants revert. If the adjustment has been made, and no changes occur, it must be destined for change.

    Your leaves all look fine to me, I don’t see any sign of it reverting

    I have two and one is putting out some very dark leaves. And both have the Birkin brown spots. The one looking brown just opened up and I’m sure will turn dark green like the one on left. Still nice looking plant. Still have not found a solution for the brown spots that they are known for. One nursery said they had luck using an anti fungal. Arbor Antifungal arrives today.

      For mine don’t think it’s brown. Now that he leaves done growing it is a dark redish color and feels like the rest. Good to know I’m not the only one though
