Hello, I have this philodendron (hope philodendron I think?). I bought it as a baby and have been up potting it as it grows every year! Now I don’t have a place for it if it grows any larger and have not up potted this year. Anything I can do to keep it healthy AND fitting in its space? Would it survive a split?

my advice is to change nothing — maybe just cut back some leaves if they’re in the way because these are fussy & this one looks so great!!

I have these (I just call them split leaf philodendron) and they grow like weeds! But I’m in a hit, humid area and they are planted outdoors. They are my fave. I have read that you can replenish the soil when it comes time to repot if you want it to stay healthy but in the same pot. Good luck. 🍀

The other thing people do is cut some of the root system during a repot. Just adding fresh soil and putting it back into the same pot

You can keep it in the same pot. I avoid repotting my plants unless they start to deteriorate because of being root bound. I would just change out the soil, trim roots and trim the leaves that die off because the roots were trimmed. New leaves will eventually replace the trimmed ones. I have a decades old monstera in the same 18 pot. I can’t repot to anything larger or I can’t lift it. It lives outside until a hard freeze comes. Sometimes leaves die off. Sometimes its aerial roots grow 4 feet long and tap into puddles or other pots. I add manure each spring and fertilizer each summer. I never repot. I just let it be.

I use a couple metal rods with loops on the tops to keep mine upright instead of letting it all lay out wide.
