Pippa and Plants

Repotted the mother plant of my silver sword philo. I went from a nursery pot to an 8 inch pot. The soil is a mix of indoor, orchid and perlite. Since the repotting, all the leaves have curled in and it looks super sad. Plants says it’s under watered? Thoughts? TIA.

The nursery pot was probably 5 inches.

Also did you water it when you transferred it? If not you should absolutely do that, it’s always best to water when you repot a plant.

I bottom watered it. I wonder if I should water it from the top?

I wonder if I should take the plant out and try to grow better roots in a smaller nursery pot?

It actually just started raining at my house. So I stuck it outside to see if rainwater would help.

I always top water my plants because I can be bothered to wait for bottom watering although I do have trays so I let them sit in the drainage for a while before I use a wet vac to clean it all up. Hopefully a good watering helps

Of course as soon as I put the plant outside it stopped raining. Ugh. I’ll water it through tomorrow morning.

It might also just be shock. Give it “normal” water and wait a week or so to watch how it reacts. Some plants just HATE repotting.

mine never did this and it’s been repotted twice — the extreme curling is what made me ask about root damage. just food for thought! hope she bounces back 🤞

So I pulled out the props and found there are no roots. I had cut these off of the mother plant at the nodes. They are now in a vase of water trying to grow some roots.
